Camp Mabo & Camp Sound Of Muisc have been certified by ACA for over 30 years straight
Puerto Rico - The American Camp Association (ACA) announced today that CAMP MABO and CAMP SOUND OF MUSIC have received ACA-Accredited Camp status for the 2008 season.
"ACA Accreditation means that CAMP MABO and CAMP SOUND OF MUSIC submitted to a thorough (over 300 standards) review of its operation by the American Camp Association (ACA) from staff qualifications and training to emergency management and complied with the highest standards in the industry," said Pat Hammond, director of ACA's standards program.
"Parents expect their children to attend accredited schools. They also deserve a camp experience that is reviewed and accredited by an expert, independent organization," Hammond said.
"CAMP MABO and SOUND OF MUSIC and ACA form a partnership that promotes summers of growth and fun in an environment committed to safety," said Lilliam B. Consuegra, one of the Camp directors, "ACA accreditation demonstrates our commitment to quality camp programming."
CAMP MABO was founded by Col. Ramón Barquín in 1963 and CAMP SOUND OF MUSIC in 1970. Both are located in the American Military Academy campus in Guaynabo, Puerto Rico. The camp is in operation from May 30 to June 23 and offers sessions lasting four weeks. For more information, parents can contact the camp at 787-720-6801, or visit the camp's Web site at www.campmabo.org.
Note: ACA is the only independent accrediting organization reviewing camp operations in the country. Its nationally-recognized standards program focuses primarily on the program quality, health and safety aspects of a camp's operation. ACA collaborates with experts from The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth service agencies to assure that current practices at the camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation.
